As one St. Elizabeth Seton student said: “I would like to thank the wonderful people in this world -- wherever they are -- for donating money so that I can go to CYO Camp!” And she’s not the only one. Twenty seven St. Elizabeth Seton students will be able to attend CYO Summer camp in Occidental this summer thanks to the incredibly generous donations made by members of the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.
Wednesday June 6 at 10:30 the books were handed out in the second grade classroom by Ms. Evelyn Rosa (Principal) on behalf of the entire parish. Ellen McGuire (Assistant Principal) and Carmel Caligaris (Development Director) and Terry Atkinson of the HCC also were in attendance.
Congratulations to St Elizabeth Seton School for their recognition of “Community Spotlight” by Palo Alto for their work implementing Zero Waste best management practices around campus, among staff and students alike. By setting up and using waste stations in lunch areas and classrooms, the school increased their diversion rate from 67% to 87%. Diversion rate is the amount of material recycled or composted and therefore diverted from the landfill. On top of protecting the environment, these Zero Waste efforts have also resulted in the school saving money on their service fees! Well done!

Dear Seton Supporters, The 2016-17 school year was full of activities and opportunities for our students. The children enjoyed learning in a positive, faith-filled environment, participated in monthly liturgies and weekly prayer services, and attended field trips that provided opportunities for them to learn and grow.
The graduating 8th Grade Class of 2017 marked a wonderful end to the academic year. Our graduates are now attending the following high schools; Bellarmine, Sacred Heart Prep, Saint Francis, Cristo Rey, Sequoia, Menlo-Atherton, Mercy Burlingame, Summit, and Oxford Charter. Graduation is a proud moment for students, families, teachers and staff. We know that they’re prepared and well-placed for the challenges ahead.
The new books donated by parishioners to St. Elizabeth Seton 2nd graders were distributed on June 6 by Fr. Mikalonis to the excited children. These books will provide hours of reading enjoyment and learning while the students gain an awareness of a large caring community.
Thanks to all donation site volunteers and parishioners who contributed a total of $1,438 toward the purchase of new books as well as the donation of several new books as well. New books will be purchased and given to each child according to their reading ability, and will be presented at the end of the school year. The children always respond very enthusiastically and are grateful for your gifts. Thank you for your continued generosity.
Effective with the new academic year, St. Elizabeth Seton School will be joining the Drexel School System that was established with 7 schools in the Diocese of San Jose four years ago. It’s already October and Seton students are moving forward in this new school year! They are busy learning, playing, praying and growing due to the support of their families, the school staff who works hard to provide a challenging, academic and religious education, the parishioners of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish who have provided financial support, and our donors who continue to lovingly share their talents and treasure. We are also very fortunate to receive ongoing support from Fr. Matt, Fr. Stasys, and our new priest Fr. Michael.
In particular, we’d like to thank you for the recent Summer Book Drive. At the Book Drive’s conclusion just before the summer break, beautifully wrapped packages were distributed to our 2nd Grade students.
Sisters Gwenn Connolly and Karen Vetter are raising funds to help send 30 kids from St. Elizabeth Seton School to CYO Summer Camp this summer. These kids have big dreams and talents — but few resources.
