Your parish’s Building & Equipment Maintenance Committee provides periodic updates to the parishioners on significant repairs, improvements and other major facilities-related expenses. This report covers the 6 months from October 2017 through March 2018.
The major upgrade in this period was the installation of a new video system at the OLR hall at a cost of $2500. This system replaces two 20+ year old TVs and VCRs used by the children’s liturgy and youth groups. Other significant expenses were for repairing & sealing the baptismal fount at St. Albert’s church, cleaning carpets at OLR, the Rectory and the Pastoral Center; annual fire inspections and fire extinguisher maintenance, and city-required inspection, test and certification of the backflow prevention valves on the water mains at all three sites.
A large new sign has been installed next to the sidewalk in front of the Pastoral Center at 3290 Middlefield Road. Andrew Cote of Boy Scout Troop 57 proposed, constructed and installed the sign for his Eagle Scout project. The effort included multiple presentations to the parish facilities committee and obtaining a city permit -- a job well done.
Your parish’s Building & Equipment Maintenance Committee provides quarterly updates to the parishioners on significant repairs, improvements and other major facilities-related expenses. This report covers the third quarter of fiscal year 2017 (i.e., Jan – Mar 2017).
Your parish’s Building & Equipment Maintenance Committee has committed to provide periodic updates to the parishioners on significant repairs, improvements and other major facilities-related expenses. This report covers the first two quarters of fiscal year 2017 (i.e., July – Dec 2016). In the future we plan to provide a report quarterly.
The first stage of the project was to renew the St. Albert The Great sanctuary. Much of the original marble flooring was obscured by a carpeted two-tier platform installed 30 years ago. The objective was to expose all the marble, but it was unknown if the original marble had been damaged during the platform construction.
The Pastoral Stewardship Council (PSC) got an update from Roland Quintero at its Wednesday, January 11 meeting. It was pleased to hear that detailed implementation planning is underway. It is likely the work will occur in two phases, due to the availability of the church and for storage of the pews during flooring/carpeting replacement.
Our parish plumbing contractor Degree HVAC is replacing and rerouting a water pipe for the school which has broken in the past several times. The last break/leak was april 2016 and it was about $6,000 to repair. Originally installed in the 1950s when the school and church were built, the water pipe runs under the porch of the hall. It is being relocated to under the eaves to make it more accessible for repairs. And it is being replaced since it’s so old.
This unplanned maintenance repair will be one-time $5,000 or $6,000 and confirms we need to replace the whole pipe this summer when the ISP school is closed. The cost for the entire pipe replacement will be another approximate $30,000. Lucky us!
The Building and Maintenance Ministry inspects each of the 11 major buildings the parish owns to make sure that we are noting any maintenance needs. The task of finding a team of 4-5 volunteers to do this task is given to each Site Committee. It will take 2-3 hours to check the referenced items and complete a reporting form.
The Maintenance/Facilities Ministry is one of 13 ministries serving our Parish. This ministry has three responsibilities; Building Maintenance, Safety and Use of Facilities
