We encourage you to continue trying to keep Sunday as a Holiday. A letter from your pastor, Fr. Stasys: Dear Parishioners, I pray that you and your loved ones are doing good. We stay strong together in prayer. It’s amazing how beautiful we are. Thank you for all the prayers, initiatives, desires to stay in touch. Thank you for joining Mass, visiting the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, you financial support and so many other acts of kindness. Due to the Corona Virus pandemic, all communal reconciliation services have been cancelled. You might schedule individual confessions with the priests if you would like to do so. I loved how some families during yesterday’s Sunday mass followed the regular mass postures from home! I invite you to be engaged as you participate in mass. Make it special. Get dressed, don’t have your coffee with you, set yourself in your best prayer mode. I want to share with you a schedule of upcoming online activities for the parish. Dear Parishioners, Please see Bishop's Cantu Statement below. All our masses are being suspended until further notice. We are working together to secure safety. Please, continue with your spiritual practices. May be add some to replace our Sunday Masses. I do also want to share that this will be a particularly challenging time for the parish as we heavily rely on our Sunday's collection income. We will still have to meet responsibilities and while we have reserves I would like to ask if you would potentially consider continuing your support either mailing your gifts to the office or making online donations through our webpage (https://paloaltocatholic.net/). Certainly its not a priority during this crisis, but it is a burden and responsibility that won't stop. Bills, maintenance and salaries will have to be paid regardless of the situation. We greatly thank you for your support. We will continue communicating. Lets praying together. In Christ Fr. Stasys, Pastor. See inside for Bishop Cantú's letter
ADA - Our Annual Diocesan Appeal begins this weekend. Fr. Stasys will be preaching about it at most Masses. Our parish goal this year is $144, 750. This is doable with all parishioners pledging according to their means. Thank you for your support!
Feast of the Presentation of the Lord - By Susan Lee Olsen Among the many other activities today, (e.g., Super Bowl) this Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas). It’s 40 days since Christmas. All those Christmas decorations we have long since taken down can now OFFICIALLY be put away. But for Jesus and his family, this day had greater significance, a significance we have an opportunity to richly embrace this Sunday. In the time of Jesus, the 40th day after the birth of a first born son marked an important event...
Happy New Year! The current donut schedule goes through the end of January and we just lost a long time volunteer, so we really need new volunteers. We have five, but ideally would have eight or nine. we really are in desperate need of a few families to help out. If we don't get more families, we might need to switch to offering donuts just twice a month. Saint Albert the Great Church is looking for volunteers to help with donuts after the 9am Sunday mass. Commitment is 6-8 Sundays a year. Responsibilities include: 1) purchasing donuts, milk, orange juice and bringing these to the hospitality center 2) preparing coffee 3) supervising donut and coffee gathering after 9 am mass 4) light clean up. For more information (or to volunteer): contact Brigid Farrell at Farrell_brigid@hotmail.com
Please join a new parishioner led project, which will provide Sunday dinner to our priests. Named, Take Them A Meal, the meal project is an outreach program that lets the parish priests know they are appreciated. To participate, parishioners cook and deliver a meal on the busiest day of the week for the priests, Sunday. If you choose to join, you will pick a date that is convenient for your schedule and prepare a meal for three; Fr. Stasys, Fr. Sev, and Fr. Maurice. Click for more information and contacts.
