A women's shelter is slated to open again in Palo Alto University Lutheran Church to host 12 to 15 women during the coldest winter nights. Our parish Human Concerns Committee supported this activity two years ago by bringing meals. It plans to do so again.
As Catholics, we recognize our responsibility to advocate on behalf of creation and the poor. Our advocacy is now more important than ever. Please join the Catholic Climate Covenant in reaching the goal to deliver a petition signed by thousands of Catholics calling on President Trump to honor the Paris Agreement, the Green Climate Fund, and the Clean Power Plan.
At the conclusion of our first ever eXaLT (XLT) event a few Sundays ago, I couldn’t help but reflect on what a tremendous success it turned out to be for our community. In case you weren’t able to make it, XLT was a family praise and worship night that was put together with the combined efforts of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and St. Nicholas Parish Youth Ministries. It was an evening designed to bond families together in hospitality, challenge our personal faith lives through a keynote speaker, and praise our amazing God in song and Adoration.
To help alleviate this need, the Human Concerns Committee has placed a collection box at each parish church site in November through December. We thank you and are most grateful for your donations. (UPDATE: so far, more than 40 pairs of shoes have been donated and brought to the Opportunity Center. The collection continues.
