Today, October 30, we celebrate Priesthood Sunday. Christ is the center, the standard, and the example of a priest’s life. Our priests seek to live, and to help others to live, an integral Christianity, convinced that only Christ can satisfy the deepest human aspirations. Our priests strive to be contemplative and conquering; leaders of souls, yet servants of all. So it is fitting on this Priesthood Sunday that we should take the time to offer a blessing for these special men in our parish.
It’s already October and Seton students are moving forward in this new school year! They are busy learning, playing, praying and growing due to the support of their families, the school staff who works hard to provide a challenging, academic and religious education, the parishioners of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish who have provided financial support, and our donors who continue to lovingly share their talents and treasure. We are also very fortunate to receive ongoing support from Fr. Matt, Fr. Stasys, and our new priest Fr. Michael.
Core Members know that Christ is their hope.If you are an adult reading this article, chances are that you have been touched by the Lord in some way that keeps you coming back each Sunday to worship. Core Members know that God is the source of their joy and hope and strive to do their best to be an example of an authentic Christian to our youth.

I came to the United States of America before finishing my junior high. I attended Sierra Junior and High School in Cupertino. After high school, I started my general education at San Jose City College in 2008 while living at the Blessed Miguel Pro Formation House as a seminarian. "For those of us who are not homeless or personally burdened by high rents, this crisis points to a deeper moral and spiritual challenge for us to see those who are homeless and suffering as indeed our neighbors. The good news is that as a community, we do care about homelessness and the need for more affordable housing. The question remains: What does persistent homelessness and poverty in this land of abundance call us to do?"

Voting Yes on Proposition 62 will be a vote affirming the human dignity of those on death row, affording them the opportunity to rehabilitate themselves. I also ask you to join me and my fellow California bishops by opposing Proposition 66. We are likewise at a decisive moment in our country and state, and we, too, are given the same choice, a choice we will make when casting our vote this November. Let us choose life, then, that we may live.
