Well, There's Something We Didn't Plan On: OLR Leak Located
A 50-year old pipe sprung a leak last Saturday afternoon at Our Lady of the Rosary, which set forth a whole series of actions:
- The water was turned off to both OLR church and the International School of the Peninsula (ISP) - Bottled water was purchased to use for Sunday coffee and hospitality, and for cleaning sacred vessels - Signage was posted and the Dermody Center opened for restroom access. - Degree HVAC was contacted and had two workers work 12+ hours on Monday digging for the break. - To supply water to the ISP, parish maintenance lead Godofredo Alfaro and Degree strung a hose over the church roof to the ISP to supply it with minimal water. - Godofredo and Santiago Aguilas also had to take out a tree that was directly above the break. - Precision Tree Maintenance was contacted and had two workers grind out the tree stump. - The break was located and the bad part of the pipe replaced late Monday night. - Water was flowing again on Tuesday and S.O.U.P was held Wednesday night!
This unplanned maintenance repair will be one-time $5,000 or $6,000 and confirms we need to replace the whole pipe this summer when the ISP school is closed. The cost for the entire pipe replacement will be another approximate $30,000. Lucky us! (see pictures at end of eBulletin)
