Wednesday, October 28: Community Forum on Domestic Violence
The Palo Alto Human Relations Commission (HRC) will sponsor a community forum on domestic violence at Mitchell Park Community Center, 3700 Middlefield Rd, El Palo Alto Room, on Wednesday, October 28, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The event, titled,
Domestic Violence—It Couldn’t Happen Here, Couldn’t It? will include a panel discussion moderated by Mayor Karen Holman. Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez, head of the Intimate Partner Violence Taskforce, will deliver the keynote address.
This forum on domestic violence will give residents a safe place to talk openly about this difficult subject. Seven expert panelists will discuss the psychological, legal, cultural and economic challenges facing domestic violence victims in Palo Alto, along with local resources available to assist them.
The goal is to connect attendees with local resources that can help them, whether they are in an abusive relationship or know someone who is. More importantly, Palo Altans can band together as a community to help each other end domestic violence here at home.
