Thank you wonderful St. Thomas Aquinas parishioners for your generous donations in April for our parish St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Conference.

In addition to purchasing easy-open packages of food for our daily food bags, we were able to help with car registrations and repairs.  Some people are still living in cars.

We were able to pay two deposits for people to move out of their cars and into the new Palo Alto Housing on El Camino, as well as 2 emergency rents in Palo Alto.  

 One couple asked us for emergency rent help. Their son was hospitalized for a week, and then home recuperating for the next week. For his week in the hospital, his parents took time from work alternately to spend with him, with no compensation.  For the week he had to spend at home, still sick and unable to attend school, his father took off the week to care for him full time.  His job gave him the time off, but without pay. We paid one month’s rent.
