Report To The Parish On Major Facilities Expenditures: January – March 2017
Your parish’s Building & Equipment Maintenance Committee provides quarterly updates to the parishioners on significant repairs, improvements and other major facilities-related expenses. This report covers the third quarter of fiscal year 2017 (i.e., Jan – Mar 2017).
Repairs of property and equipment totaled $17,680 last quarter:
The most significant repair expense last quarter was for repairing roof leaks at St. Albert the Great Church and at the former St. Albert the Great convent. Also at St. Albert the Great, carpeting was removed from the altar floor and the underlying marble was refinished as part of the St. Albert the Great carpet and flooring project. A third section of property line fence at the OLR site was replaced (the cost was shared 50/50 with the neighboring property owner).
Other major expenses were for the repair of the commercial refrigerator in the SESS kitchen, the Genie lift used by the maintenance staff for safely reaching ceiling lights and other high spots, a furnace at one of the parish rental properties and for removal of a dead pine tree at the Pastoral Center. Although repairs are a significant portion of our annual plant expenses, salaries and benefits for our maintenance employees, insurance on the buildings and utilities are all major recurring costs.
