Green Corner: Saving America’s Pollinators Act

On June 18 we mark the one year anniversary of Laudato Si' in which Pope Francis addressed to "every person living on this planet". In section 179 the Holy Father states: "Unless citizens control political power - national, regional and municipal - it will not be possible to control damage to the environment."

With this in mind, here is an opportunity to petition the U.S. Congress to pass the "Saving America's Pollinators Act of 2015 (HR. 1284) using the link shown below. So far there are 9,083 signatures (at the time of this writing) and the goal is for 25,000 signatures.

Please pass the "Saving America's Pollinators Act”

I am writing to ask you to support Representatives Conyers' and Blumenauer's Saving America's Pollinators Act of 2015 (HR. 1284.)
Critical pollinators like bees are declining at alarming rates, and the use of systemic pesticides called neonicotinoids could be to blame.
Neonicotinoids are the most widely used insecticides in the world, and research has shown that their use has a fatal impact on bees. 

Other countries have taken steps to limit the use of these toxins -- now it's time for the United States to take similar action.
Please do your part to protect bees by supporting HR. 1284, the Saving America's Pollinators Act.
