Grace Lee's 100th Birthday Celebration

Our parishioner and friend, Grace Lee was born in Oakland, CA on April 20, 1917.  The family moved to Providence, Rhode Island for 5 years and came back to Oakland.  Grace lived in Stockton from the 3rd grade until she went to the University of California, Berkeley when she was 16 years old.  Grace married Hong Lee in October 1945 at the Catholic Chapel at Maxwell Field US Army Air Corp in Montgomery, Alabama.

Grace became a Catholic in 1932 due to the influence of her German teacher and has been a stalwart Catholic ever since.  Grace and Hong came to Palo alto in 1963 when Hong started working at SRI.  Grace attended St. Ann’s Chapel and helped Fr. Duryea with the church bulletin.  She then started helping Fr. Alexander Larkin when the parishes were combined into St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.  

In the following years she spent many hours every week in the office with money counting and posting donation on the computer.  She also helped with the church mailings.  Grace is now staying at the Avant Senior Living facility but still comes in to the parish office when they need help with the money counting and parish mailings.  She is also to be seen helping with many Church events.  Grace is such an inspiration to us all with her untiring dedication to the smooth operation of our parish.
