The Lector ministry within St. Thomas Aquinas Parish supports a group of individuals who proclaim the Word of God at Mass, at all special celebrations, and on Holy Days of Obligation. Lectors are not readers, but are proclaimers of the Good News of the Lord. Being a member of the Lector Ministry helps you to gain a better understanding of the readings of the week because you prepare them at home and practice before coming to Mass to proclaim them.
The schedule for lectors works on a rotating basis, at each of our three worship sites.
The Lector Ministry helps all of its members gain confidence in speaking before a group through occasional practice sessions, as well as through providing each lector with a special preparation book with the readings and their Biblical contact. By proclaiming the Word of the Lord each week to the best of your ability, lectors have a very important role to play in each liturgy.
New Members are always welcome! Contact our parish Liturgy Coordinator Nora Lundin, and she will put you in touch with the Site Committee coordinator at your usual worship site for initial training and assessment, and eventual scheduling.
