Jesus’ parting words to his disciples as he ascended to Heaven were, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” Jesus was not just speaking to the disciples present at this event. He was speaking to all of us as well. We are called by our Baptism to share our faith with others. We do that primarily by the example we set in the way we live our lives. But we also have an opportunity to walk with others who are learning about their faith and preparing to receive sacraments.
There are young people in the RCIA process who need sponsors: people from our community willing to support and encourage them as they prepare to receive the sacraments. If you are a fully initiated Catholic aged 16 or older, you could be a sponsor for one of these young people. The time commitment is what you are willing and able to put into it. Perhaps you can just meet with them at coffee and donuts after Mass. Perhaps you can introduce them to other members of the community. Perhaps you can introduce them to a group or ministry you are involved with to help them participate more fully in our community. You would also be welcome to attend our Wednesday classes (6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in the Dermody Center). Interested? Contact Susan at the Pastoral Center (650-494-2496, ext. 25) or at
