Our Director of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, Jean Ramacciotti, received over Martin Luther King week-end The President's "MLK 2012 Drum Major for Service" award. Presented "in recognition and appreciation of your commitment to strengthening our Nation and for making a difference through volunteer service, addressing the most pressing needs in your community and in our country."
Jean was nominated by the Islamic Networks Group, headquartered in San Jose. They presented the award to her at a dinner Saturday. Jean has been on their Interfaith Speakers Bureau (IFSP) for many years, representing the Christian tradition. The IFSP is a volunteer panel which speaks at schools, colleges, corporations and service clubs throughout Northern California. The goal is to reduce prejudice and increase understanding about the
mainstream religions. On the panel is a Muslim, a Jew, a Buddhist, a Hindu and a Catholic.
