Relay For Life is an overnight community gathering that gives everyone an opportunity to fight cancer and help save lives.
Teams camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the overnight event and to raise a minimum of $100 each.
At Relay For Life, you will celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and learn more about how to fight back against cancer. While you’re raising much-needed funds, you’ll also be raising awareness of the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and patient support. No matter who you are, you can help and there’s a place for you at Relay.
The event is tentatively scheduled for June 8-9, 2013 at Palo Alto High School.
The organizers are looking for people who are interested in joining our planning committee, forming a team, or who are survivors who wish to participate in this event. They thought our parish might have interested individuals, be they cancer survivors, or those who have lost a loved one to cancer.
